Maps

This is copied from an Insta post, but it’s such a great story, I don’t want it to get lost.

Was searching for my Christmas tags and came across this map of Salt Lake I’ve been saving to put on a wood panel. Finally have a wood panel for it, now I just need to wrap the edges.

The day I arrived in SL, I learned one of my hosts is allergic to cats. (When I asked if it was ok to bring Oliver, he replied, “I’ve lived with a cat before. We’ll see how it goes.” (Turns out it had been about 50 years since he’d lived with a cat, and that cat probably didn’t steal his ham sandwich, a lamb chop, and a stick of butter.) So we took a trip to the vet that day to get Oliver his shots so he could be outside more. While we were waiting, my host went to the service station next door and picked up this map for me. He marked on it where some of the cousins live for my reference. Such a sweet, thoughtful, and lovely gesture, which is why I’ve saved it and put in on a canvas.

He suffered through his allergies, which were described as hay fever, even though we all knew it was Oliver.

Once a friend was visiting. Oliver jumped up on my host’s lap. His friend said, I thought you were allergic to cats. (Everyone knew he was allergic to cats.) Before he could answer, Oliver sneezed. 😂
